Once again, the Republican-controlled supermajority has shown a tendency to overlook the issues that truly matter to the residents of Sangamon County. Instead, they seem to prioritize their own interests. The Republican Party has maintained control of the Sangamon County Board since the 1980s.

The Sangamon County Democratic Party can slate Democratic candidates for Countywide office and County Board candidates only when there is no Democratic nominee.

THE VISION FOR A BRIGHTER SANGAMON COUNTY

Traditionally, the Democratic Party holds 8 seats, while the Republican Party has 21 seats, giving them a supermajority. This majority allows them to elect their own County Board Chair, which significantly influences the future of Sangamon County.

We cannot afford to wait any longer to challenge the status quo. We have a chance to flip the Sangamon County Board in the upcoming General Election, which will take place on November 3, 2026. We need you to run for office. There are uncontested seats that require a Democratic candidate.
